"Stop Smoking - Clydebank Health Centre"

About: NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde / Quit your Way

(as a service user),

I have tried to stop smoking quite a few times through the pharmacy. This time the pharmacy put me in touch with the Quit Your Way advisor Louise at Clydebank Heath centre as they felt that I may benefit from talking to an adviser every week. I attend the stop smoking clinic every Monday morning, and have a great chat with Louise after I have attended the pharmacy to collect my prescription. The pharmacy also check my carbon monoxide levels which started at 27 and is now down to 1. Louise listens to me, encourages me, gives me advice to keep me motivated and this has definitely made a difference this time. She also checked in with me during the Christmas holidays even though the clinic was shut. I would never have got this far without her support and advice. For the first time in 50 years I am a non smoker, my cough has disappeared and I feel so much better. I would recommend this service to anyone who wants to quit even if you have tried before.

Hi Gordon53, it is so nice to hear your Stop Smoking story and how both the Quit Your Way Pharmacy service and the Quit Your Way Community Service were there to help you at this important time in your life. It is so interesting to hear about your experience and heartening to hear that Louise's fantastic support has spurred you on to stay smoke free. I will certainly congratulate Louise on the great service she has provided to you and the other clients who attend her service, and I will let her manager know that she has received positive feedback too. Very well done for quitting smoking!

Lisa Buck, QYW Service Manager, NHSGGC.
