I have had a long hard battle with mental health services from the age of 20 years old when I had my first child, I am now 30 years old and am still having these issues.
I was diagnosed with ADHD at 29 and have had no help and support following this, I was given medication without being treated properly and was told if I was in CRISIS to call the cpn team in North lanarkshire whom I have done on multiple occasions to be met with the same response of we don't deal with adhd wait for your pychatrity appointment. I am met with a constantly non empathetic and condescending tone each time I do call for some help and support.
I am a mother of two and work in healthcare myself and I can sympathise with the issues which the NHS are up against but the way I am treated each time with no help or outcomes is shocking. I am asking for help and support to prevent something that may be catastrophic to myself and family's life as with my ADHD I suffer PMDD a illness which affects my menstrual cycle to the point I have suicidal ideation and I worry I will act on these thoughts.
I am currently unmedicated I have insomnia and racing thoughts having 2 to 3 hours sleep per night, I have other issues and this week it came to boiling point I reached out the cpn unit at central health centre cumbernauld again to be told nothing they can do phone my own GP to which I did and they responded go to A&E, I have had to report here in mental health crisis for the first time and the team were very nice but again met with the same response we don't deal with mental health please go back to your cpn or gp.
The system is broken and I don't know what to do or where to go 6 to 8 month between appointments with no input from a mental health team or even some compassion is a very dark and horrible place to be. I don't want to call up as I am constantly met with the same response over and over, go for a walk , you seem fine right now, I will pass your name on, go back to your gp.
I now feel that the other way of been or taken seriously is if there was an attempt on my life as harsh as that seems or I pay privately to speak to someone whom can help and can give me the correct guidance and be spoken to with some respect when I call because I am paying for it.
The people in the system are suffering and the sign posting and mental health acts in my experience are not being reflected within my own area from my experience.
Thank you for your time, I appreciate it.
