I recently attended for an MRI at IRH, I was very nervous about attending as I can get quite claustrophobic.
I headed to the reception area where I was spoken to by one of the receptionists, who was really nice and told me where I was to go for the MRI. I made my way round to the department, I only sat for less than 5 minutes to be called. I was taken round to another waiting area by a staff member (I didn't catch her name) she explained in detail what was going to happen. I explained how I was feeling and she discussed the ways that I would be lying going into the machine, which made me feel at ease. She ran through my checklist aswell and then I was taken through to the machine.
At this point I was met by another staff member and both members of the team explained again what would be happening.
By this point I was in floods of tears and started to panic. The ladies were both reassuring me throughout. I then got onto the table and was spoken to through the headphones by the team. I had some nice music playing and helped me to relax a bit. The team were checking in with me throughout the scan and reassuring me.
I was so embarrassed about how I reacted but the members of staff I came across were so lovely and understanding, I'm sure I'm not the first person they have seen like this.
Well done team and thank you so much.
