"They resolved my problems relating to my coil"

I had a number of symptoms for a long time, including ongoing bladder irritation and intermittent foul, discoloured discharge. I felt very worried, but was unable to make an appointment with any sexual health clinic in Bristol, where I was living at the time, and was only offered a take home STI test from my GP which was negative, and then was unable to get a follow up appointment.

Recently, after moving back to Devon, I developed cramping pains in my uterus area. I then made an appointment with the sexual health clinic on Sidwell street.

The service has been phenomenal from beginning to end, worlds apart from what I experienced in Bristol. I was able to make an appointment for whatever day that week suited me, and didn’t have to wait on the phone to get through to someone. I was seen promptly after arriving.

The clinician asked me a number of relevant questions and immediately ran every sexual health test possible, and checked my coil. It turned out my coil had slipped down into my cervix, and was the likely cause of all my issues. She removed it and gave me medication to treat the BV which had most likely been caused by it. She and the other clinician who was there to assist were both so lovely and understanding, and really put me at ease whilst having tests which were uncomfortable. I can’t thank them enough.

The service here is second to none. I walked in with an issue which had been causing me no end of misery for a long time, and walked out with the issue resolved, having finally been listened to.
