"A&E admittance"

About: Altnagelvin Area Hospital / Emergency department Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response South West Acute Hospital / Emergency Care and Medicine Services

(as the patient),

My wife recently went to SW Hospital Enniskillen after a fall.

Super fast ambulance and Care by staff.  Ambulance came from Omagh.

Let home that night after tests and reassurance.

Following this, I was taken to A&E at Altnagelvin, Derry. Ambulance from Strabane. 4 nights there. On a trolley yes, with constant care and insight into workload of Staff.  Diagnosis, Vertigo.

Follow up care for both of us through our local Western Rural Health Care, Castlederg. Where we invariably receive professional attention from all staff at the Centre.

We both will be much obliged for you forwarding our appreciating  comments to the various support services.

Long live the NHS

Update posted by Sesita (the patient)

Ann Marie,

We had long intended to write to both Hospitals & both A&E Depts. This Care Option afforded us this opportunity.

With Vertigo, the Exercises have greatly eased my concerns. With Susan, the dizziness persisted, and our local doctor

Keep very well yourself.

Dear Sesita,

I am pleased that you have found the exercises helpful for the vertigo.

I'm sorry to hear that Susan continues to experience dizziness. I hope that the medical review with her Doctor helped with diagnosis and that symptoms are resolving at this time.

Again if you require further information to support with reducing risk of falls or managing risk of falls, please do not hesitate to make contact.

Kindest Regards,

Ann Marie

Hello siesta,

My name is Michelle Scott patient client experience lead here for the Western trust.

I am sorry to hear you and your wife required emergency care soon soon after one another but hope you are both recovery well. I see your wife still experiences dizziness so I hope in time this can resolve.

I have been working closely with Accident and emergency departments recently as they continue to experience high volumes of patients requiring emergency care. As they continue to work relentlessly through at this time, I am responding on their behalf.

Thank you leaving your story about your own experience and your wife's experience regarding our health care system which involved ambulance services and 2 accident and emergency departments (A&E). I have shared your story with all staff working within these areas so apologies for the delay in response as this took some time. Not surprisingly all staff were delighted to hear such a wonderful complimentary story about the services. Staff in Altnagelvin A&E printed out and display the story for other to read as well.

Wishing you and your wife all the very best

Michelle Scott
