"Waiting times"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Outpatients Department

(as the patient),

I have just contacted the referral management service to enquire about a referral made by my GP for a consultation by a respiratory consultant, to be told that I was referred 10 weeks ago and still on the waiting list. When I enquired how much longer I was likely to wait I was advised the waiting time is around 40 weeks.

Surely not 3 months short of a year to be seen by a consultant when you have been advised that you have abnormal lung function tests?

Maybe its not serious, maybe it is, but my symptoms are certainly worsening and the thought of suffering for another 30 weeks is unbearable.

Dear gstar

I am sorry that you are waiting for a respiratory review and that your symptoms are worsening. In order to provide appropriate advice and guidance regarding expected waiting times it is important that we speak to you directly.

I wonder if you would therefore contact patient affairs on 01355 585325 or email PatientSffairs.Hairmyres@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk

Thank you for raising your concerns and hope to hear from you

Kind regards

Lise
