"I knew I was safe in her care"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

I had my baby in October 2023 at Ayrshire Maternity Unit and felt the care was amazing, particularly in the labour ward. My midwife Michelle was so patient, calm and responsive to my needs during what I felt was a very stressful and vulnerable time.

I felt that nothing was a problem for Michelle and I knew I was safe in her care. She immediately recognised baby was in distress and reacted quickly while keeping me calm and informed of what was happening and why. In a situation where I felt I had lost control, Michelle was my advocate and I will be forever grateful for her amazing care.
