"Fantastic apart from one person"

About: Skegness Hospital

My mother was admitted after a fall with a broken humerus and, as she had been in a ward at Skegness in the past, she was slightly looking forward to it as her last experience was most positive.

She is in her late 80s, disabled in full movement after a stroke and a therapy nurse wanted to send her home on Christmas Eve with the broken humerus less than two weeks old and when she could not stand due to balance and the pain in her shoulder and was expecting her to sit in bed or a chair and not mover until four times a day when a helper would go in to help her.

Telephone communications from the hospital was ok but I managed to get the ward email address and my emails remained unanswered as, I guess, they did not want to create proof in answering my concerns as to their safeguarding commitments.

Clearly Lincolnshire is at the bottom of the healthcare post code lottery and if you are reading this an have a relative who will potentially need home carers, I strongly advise you to read up on your rights very quickly.

My mother is now in a care home receiving very good care whilst she recovers.
