Life before supported living:

I lived previously in a housing executive house. It was a nightmare for me. I felt scared stiff 24 hours of the day everyday. My mental health was poor. I was petrified most of the time which is an extreme form of fear. I was admitted to hospital several times. It was the only place I felt safe until I came to supported living.

Supported living:

I find supported living suited me compared to my life previously. Supported living has given me a lot of things. It has given me meaning to my life.

I feel at home here. Supported living has given me the opportunity to achieve my goals of feeling settled, happy, secure and reaching my goals.

Staff support me with my medication so I am taking it regularly. I believe now I have an actual home that is to my own liking. I am over 20 years out of hospital.

Thankyou so much for posting your story with Care Opinion. We really appreciate you sharing how difficult it had been for you prior to you coming to live at Aldergrove. It is lovely to hear what a difference Supported Living has made to your life. I am delighted that you have found a place that you feel you can call home that has given you back meaning to your life.
