My son was scheduled for a routine appointment to check the health of his left eye. He had a lensectomy due to a cataract at 6 months old and has had much care from that point on.
He received excellent care and reassurance from the lens team. Mairead, Mr Jackson and team carried out health and acuity checks on the eye and fitted a new glass lens for trial. He bared the new pain well and after 5-10 mins of discomfort this settled to make this a viable way forward. We are hoping to prevent recurring eye infections so he can make the most of the low level eyesight saved from his original condition.
As a father I am reassured that my son is getting the best care possible and at this appointment was delicately handled and had the least amount of discomfort possible achieving what was needed.
I want to thank the entire team on Level 8A outpatients of the RVH for their dedication and care.
