"General Care in Causeway Hospital."

About: Causeway Hospital / Accident & Emergency Causeway Hospital / Medical Assessment Unit Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response

(as the patient),

I am an elderly man, suffering from Pulmonary Fibrosis. I developed severe diarrhoea just after Christmas 2023. Tried to self treat but eventually had to seek emergency help.  An ambulance responded within 10 minutes. I was admitted to Causeway Hospital A&E.  I was swiftly seen and fairly quickly diagnosed with a Clostridium Difficile (C-Diff) infection and transferred to the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU).  Following successful treatment I was discharged home after 3 days.

I would just like to record that the quality of care I received throughout was superb.  From the paramedic ambulance team, nurses, doctors, cleaners, porters and catering staff I was always treated with great dignity, respect, friendliness and concern. When I needed all these people they were there to help and support me. I truly valued this. I hope Society, despite the current NHS difficulties, will really continue to value this special community of people long into the future.
