After a moderately poorly Christmas period, my son suddenly got much worse. We were immediately seen by the duty GP at Simpsons, Bathgate. He immediately referred us to Paediatrics at St John's.
We were put straight through, checked and sent home with antibiotics. Equipped with the direct phone number, we called in the next day as my son was throwing up his medicine. By this point he was very ill.
The ward immediately saw to his needs and he spent the night on an IV drip with various substances helping him to recover. I felt that although this seemed very scary and serious, that my son was in good hands.
The staff were very confident in what was required and it just remained for my son to be very brave and for his parents to be very patient. It's always hard to endure the hospital process, and there were some difficult moments. Yet I've got faith in NHS Scotland and the famous bedside mannerisms of paediatric staff.
