"NHS CAHMS Motherwell"

About: Children's Specialist Health Services / Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

(as a relative),

My nephew has been known to CAMHS Motherwell for many years. We went through awful times trying to get the team to listen to us, the family, as to what was going on. As my nephew has grown, he has become more physically and verbally aggressive. For a brief period, he engaged when he came to live with myself and my husband, however as time went on, he stopped engaging. CAMHS have clearly not paid heed to what has been said to them and my nephew is now being charged with reckless endangerment from which a house fire that could has decimated my mothers home and could possibly have ended her life. While it is understandable that the child needs listened to, there appears to have been less than minimal input from CAMHS in Motherwell both to listen to those affected by my nephew's behaviour as well as less than minimal effort based on the extreme violence and aggression towards those around him. We have had to endure ongoing physical abuse with both fists and weapons with serious bodily harm, with detrimental outcome on family units as well as careers and the mental health of family members due to the far below par care or interest of CAMHS Motherwell.

Dear Crc

Thank you for taking the time to share what sounds like an extremely distressing experience for you and your family. To allow us to look into the concerns you have raised, I would invite you to contact Jane Killin (Interim Clinical Manager, CAMHS North*) to arrange to discuss this with you directly.

Kind regards

Mhairi Ward
