I have been with this GP practice for many years and have always found it to be a really helpful, supportive service. However in 2 recent interactions I was extremely disappointed to find it so difficult to access the help I needed.
In both cases, I feel there were very straightforward solutions but there seemed to be a rigid application of set processes despite explaining how this would not fit my circumstances.
What concerns me is that for some people who may be less confident and in many cases will already be feeling vulnerable or anxious, by the time they call for help this type of response could put them off seeking help when required in the future, with the potential that more serious conditions could be missed.
I am aware of the pressures primary care services are currently under, but I feel a more flexible, person-centred approach would surely be beneficial for all.
