"CT scan appointments"

About: Glenfield Hospital / Radiology

(as the patient),

I was sent an appointment for a CT scan on Easter Monday 2023 at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. I cancelled the activities that I was going to do and duly went to the Hospital. I got there and sat in an empty waiting area until an operative saw me and asked why I was there. I showed him my appointment notice and he said, this should have been cancelled we don't have you down for a scan today, or words to that effect, I was not able to have a CT scan.

Later in the year I was sent an appointment for a CT scan again in November, but this time it was on one of the few days that I was busy. I phoned to cancel the appointment and was spoken to quite abruptly saying that I must go to the appointment. I passed through to another department and the nice person there said, no problem I will book you in another appointment.

I was then sent another appointment for December 2023 which I fully intended to attend at Glenfield Hospital. Unfortunately, I tested positive for covid the day before. My partner phoned in on my behalf (I had a very sore throat) I still had to confirm my date of birth etc. Then the person on the phone said in an aggressive manner, you have already cancelled this appointment twice before. Whereupon I said, no but I was sent a bogus appointment for Easter Monday. They said, we don't send bogus appointments.

I was ill so I didn't argue any further. They then said they would send me one more appointment. I accepted that. I found both the staff that I have spoken to on the phone had an aggressive manner - far from the warm welcome, that your phone system implies that I should have had.

All three of these appointments were messages out of the blue. No phone call to me had been made to confirm my availability. Now I will have to wait for my next appointment, I will attend whether I have covid or any other problem as it seems I must have this CT scan following my surgery last year.

I cannot help contracting covid. I have all all the injections offered and this is the first time that I have had it. I am also at risk because of the medication I am on. No advice was offered to me by the second person that I spoke to.
