"Dissapointed"

About: Ninewells Hospital / Sexual and Reproductive Health

(as a relative),

I fell very dissapointed as I always come to the hospital for various appointments and treatments and I could be attended with someone with me. Now every time I come with my girlfriend for her appointments I hear NO, you cannot come with her. Feel very sad and rejected

Hi Patricia

I am sorry to read about your experience in our service. Whilst we are happy for patients to have someone attend with them for support, it is our policy that they are asked to remain in the waiting room until we have completed our initial assessment. This allows for patient confidentiality and any safeguarding issues to be addressed. If after this point the patient wishes to have their support person in the consultation then this will be accommodated. I hope this alleviates your concerns.
