I had an operation recently to remove my left kidney and a cancerous tumour (December 2023).
The operation was successful and I am eternally grateful to the doctors, surgeons, and nurses who did a stellar job with me ,thank you NHS.
However from day one onwards the standard of food served to me and other cancer patients on Harvey Ward 2 was horrendous.
On all the days I was in there I never actually could eat any of the food as it was always very cold and inedible. I was scared of getting ill with food poisoning or gastroenteritis, from the food that was served off the little antiquated trolleys . It was shocking and I felt it was an insult to all age groups and people. I lost one stone in a very short time and am still trying to get back to normal.
It left me feeling like I was being punished for no reason and angry and frustrated . I would advise all patients that are due to go in from now on to try and get family or find other ways to obtain food whilst inside there.
The whole experience left me feeling insulted and the food tea and coffee was a complete joke. The company who supply these meals need to know.
"I never actually could eat any of the food"
