My learning disabled son, who has 24 hour care and is in supported living, had a renal transplant in September. There were complications and many difficulties post transplant. Lucy the Learning Disability Team nurse, from the East Renfrewshire Learning Disability Team, has provided our son with amazing support both during his long stay in hospital and now that he is home. She has shown great kindness and professionalism in supporting him through the many challenges he faced post surgery.
She has organised all his many hospital readmissions and clinic visits and liaised with the renal medical team excellently.
She has always been confident and positive in her approach to supporting our son through the complexities of the NHS. She has also provided reassurance and support to our son's care team giving them the confidence to support our son in these very difficult times. I would also like to thank John the nursing assistant who has supported our son to all hospital appointments and also provided great care both in hospital and at home. They are a brilliant team and we would like to thank them for all their hard work, professionalism, positivity and kindness. If there were awards for excellence within East Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership then surely these two members of the team should receive them. All I can say on behalf of our family is many many thanks to you both. You have been absolutely outstanding.
