"disabled toilet access"

About: NHS Hammersmith and Fulham CCG

(as the patient),

Yesterday I was at the reception desk at my GP's surgery when a man in a wheelchair asked for help. He said his chair did not fit in the disabled toilet. The receptionist was on her own in a very large surgery and she could not help. He explained that he had a bowel disorder and needed to use the toilet now. He sat on the toilet but could not close the door. I (female) went over to help move his wheelchair to close the door.

And when he finished I went in again to move the wheelchair again so that he could leave.

Today I reported this incident to one of the GP's. I am furious because she said I needed an eye witness. I was hoping she would try to identify the man to get his view. Instead I was asked to describe the receptionist.

May I make two suggestions:

1. Try to identify the man and apologize to him immediately.

2. Install a button for the request for help inside the disabled toilet, if there was one he would have surely used it.
