"Poor discharge from a procedure"

My dad attended IRH for procedure within x-ray department.

He was assisted by a member of staff to steady onto his feet. With this the skin on his arm ripped open ( very frail skin and on anti-coagulant ).

A single piece of gauze and micro pore was placed on his hand which was in no way adequate and it continued to bleed heavily. He asked if anyone could get dressings from A&E, they advised sorry they can’t.

He was advised he could go and wait in A&E to be seen for this bleed caused by this action within this department 

He was feeling weak due to having altered dirty ahead of the procedure and chose to go home as he was feeling he was not fit to sit in A&E for further wait .

I had to attend that evening and attempted to clean and bandage this wound. Then referred to dns.

They have attended several times and dressing continues to leak due to confuse blood flow.

He is now awaiting an ambulance crew to assist with this wound as he is not fit to attend A&E.

This should not have happened, he should never have been sent home alone like this .

This has infuriated me that he has had to deal with this when this could have been solved easily within the hospital environment . Where is the duty of care ? I fully understand not all staff members are wound experts but I fully would be expecting that staff would have ensured he was cared for and not discharged home with a heavily bleeding wound.

I feel this is dangerous and very poor practice. Yes we have staffing issues, but where is the care?
