My son is quite a complex one and is under respiratory, allergy, gastro and more recently psychology.
I can’t begin to express my gratitude for the level of joint up care provided by the teams. They communicate to one another and they work together to try and ensure that each procedure or treatment isn’t going to impact negatively on another area of his health.
Unfortunately due to several procedures, he developed a fear of hospitals and further procedures, we have been lucky enough to work with Jordan from the psychology team and he has been wonderful with us all. He has arranged meet ups with health professionals that are not about him being poked or prodded and it has already done wonders in his confidence with the hospital. I am so grateful for the service and I really hope it enables him to have a positive relationship with hospitals as his health will likely require intervention for life.
His respiratory team are absolutely fantastic, they go above and beyond and truly listen to us. His asthma nurse, Ann, is just one of the most wonderful nurses I have ever experienced (and unfortunately, due to having my own health conditions since I was 8, means I have met a lot of them). She has supported us with my son’s nursery and school experiences, she has supported us on the phone many times and she is extremely knowledgeable and non judgmental. I only hope she never leaves!
Thank you sick kids, your care has been phenomenal.
"Fantastic collaboration"
