"Long Covid support"

About: Edgware Community Hospital / Neurological Rehabilitation Centre

(as a service user),

I was forwarded material on neurological approaches to long covid and chronic pain treatment by one of your Vocational Rehab specialists, Carina. This info was about expressive journalling, somatic tracking and a really helpful podcast which explains some of these things called The Cure for Chronic Pain.

I have been regularly listening to the podcasts and began expressive journalling and it has been incredibly eye opening. I feel like it's a missing piece to a puzzle for me making steps forward.

I actually think it would be helpful if they were to recommend this approach as part of the covid rehab course, not even just for pain but for the whole condition. Learning to think about healing my nervous system, and rewiring my brain in this way and being given something to do (the journaling/ somatic tracking) that actually feels like it helps your nervous system rebalance, more so than many things I’ve been recommended, is making me feel like I can take control of things.

I've had long covid for 2 years, I've gotten slowly better over this period and there are other things that have helped me get here but my recovery had stagnated + I have repeated relapse.

I've been doing this for under a month, and I've felt so much more capable physically and mentally, and like things are moving forwards. I'm hopeful to see how this continues to help.

Dear @ok111,

Thank you for your story and for telling us about your experience of using resources such as journaling/somatic tracking with Post Covid symptoms. This is really helpful for us to know and it will influence how we provide these resources to others.
