I applied to seek help through CGL for me being a functional alcoholic. Eventually after me seeing sense I went to detox in Parkhouse (Hockley) where I spent 2 weeks in treatment where I was looked after by a team of eclectic health professionals.

Elise my alcohol worker who had the patience with my mental health being off the chart referred me to here and I have to thank her for her patience as looking back I was all over the place like a pinball in a machine basically cos of suffering with severe anxiety and depression ADHD and EUPD.

I am now in full recovery with Lindale homes and I am 45 days sober to this day. I'm currently on an anti-craving medication and feeling better but taking one day at a time trying to currently simmer.

Thank you to CGL and Lindale and my alcohol worker Elise (who is so glad I'm not as erratic as I was lol. Yep I was bad but i do make her laugh so i kinda get away with it... (maybe not) and also my GP too here in Birmingham and all the staff through my whole start to life again.

I’m Lydia and I’m responsible for listening and responding to people’s feedback.

It’s great to hear you’ve made such amazing progress in your recovery and congratulations on the sober days you have already achieved.

It can be really daunting to make a commitment to stay in residential care for a medically assisted detox, but it can be a really affective way to get support with physical withdrawal symptoms where staff are available around the clock. I’m really glad that you made the decision to go to Park House despite battling with your anxiety and depression, as it sounds like it really helped to kick start your recovery.

It’s really good to hear that you have been linked in with Lindale Homes and I hope that the support they have already provided to you continues for as long as you feel you need it and that you benefit from all of the group support they offer to you during your stay there.

It was amazing to read how patient Elise has been as your support worker. Its so important people feel supported and don’t feel rushed or pressured by the professionals around them when they are battling their addiction and trying to decide on the best way forward.

GPs who are prepared to understand the important role they have to play in supporting somebody’s recovery are worth their weight in gold and so it is great to hear that your GP has been supportive of you whilst you have been making positive changes in your life.

I will make sure Elise and her Team Leader, and the management at Park House and Lindale Homes get to read the kind words you have shared about the support they have each provided to you. I’m sure everyone will greatly appreciate your feedback and that they will feel proud of the parts they have played in your recovery.

I hope that you too feel proud of everything you have changed in your life and achieved so far. None of the progress you have made would have been possible without your own commitment and determination.

I hope as you continue to build on the new start you have created for yourself, any cravings you experience will get less and less over time and that you’ll get everything you need and want out of your future.
