We attended for a volume/doppler screening at 28 weeks and Nadine spotted an abnormality on our scan, an abdominal swelling spreading towards the chest. She got a second opinion from a colleague who also was unsure what this was. They referred us efficiently to Edinburgh where we were seen later that week.
A lymphatic malformation was suspected and we had to wait until the baby arrived to confirm diagnosis. They were amazed Nadine had picked up on this and said it is a very difficult thing to see if you were not specifically looking hard for it.
Our baby was born last week and the diagnosis was confirmed. We are so so grateful to Nadine and the team for picking up on this when she did, if she hadn’t this would have been a massive stress after the birth as his swelling is quite large and we wouldn’t have had time to process it all and panic would definitely have set in.
Thankyou to Nadine. We are so so grateful to you. He is beautiful and healthy and we are making a plan for treatment in the next few months.
