About: Southern General Hospital

(as the patient),

Referred to Southern General in February 2013, had first appointment with surgeon in May. Since then I've had two scans but still no appointment with the surgeon to find out treatment plan.

It's now three weeks since my last investigation and when I called to find out what was happening I was told that the appointments are running three months behind and there is no way I will see someone in October. So now I am looking at around one year from referral to treatment.

Surely this breaks the much trumpeted 18 weeks guideline?

Dear Walshy,

My apologies for the delay in responding.

If you can provide further detail we can look into the targets and waiting times surrounding your treatment.

The one thing I would say is that, yes, there is a maximum Referral to Treatment Guarantee of 18 weeks, but that there is one specialist service that is currently exempt from the target, but without further information I cannot say for certain if this applies to you.
