"Outstanding care from the children’s observation unit team!"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary / General surgery

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter was sent to the observation unit at DRI with suspected appendicitis in early December. Luckily it turned out to be a virus and a UTI, but it was very scary for both of us.

The staff were absolutely outstanding. I will be eternally grateful to the healthcare assistant who held my daughter's hands with me while the lovely doctor cannulated her, who went above and beyond to ensure I had a hot drink and somewhere comfy to sleep for the night and for the extra blankets.

The fabulous doctor was so respectful of the the fact that our knowledge was limited and explained everything thoroughly, in simple terms ensuing we understood everything.

The staff on the ward made a bad situation feel a little less daunting, so on behalf of myself and my daughter I’d like to express my gratitude.

Thank you for sharing you and your daughter's recent experience at Doncaster Royal Infirmary with us. I am so pleased to read how happy you were with the care you received.

I will share your kind feedback with the Children's team involved who I’m sure will be extremely grateful.

Thank you for sharing!

Best wishes,

Laura
