"Always very professional and caring with all of their patients"

About: The Ulster Hospital / Emergency Department The Ulster Hospital / Ward 5A

(as a service user),

Unexpected illness requiring me to attend the Ulster Hospital Emergency Department at my doctors request on 25-10-23. Wonderful care from all the doctors especially Ally in ED - very busy, but all staff very upbeat even though they were under pressure.

I was then allocated a bed in Ward 5A around 1am. During my time on Ward 5A I have received fantastic care from all nursing staff, doctors and consultants. The auxiliary staff are also extremely kind and work hard to look after their patients n regarding to cleaning/food/tea etc.

The nursing staff are extremely busy on this ward, but always very professional and caring with all of their patients. I definitely felt very well cared for. I was feeling very unwell when admitted and it was reassuring to be in such capable hands.

My one issue (this is no fault of the ward staff) was when I was on the corridor bed I sometimes had to use the toilet facilities outside the ward. These are also used by the general public and were not as clean or hygienic as they should have been.

Dear crlbyl17

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding the treatment and care you received whilst a patient on ward 5A.

Your kind comments will be shared with the teams who always appreciate receiving them.

I sincerely apologise for the cleanliness of the public toilet, which you had to use and it was not up to the standard expected. Your comment is being forwarded to the Patient experience managers for review and action.

I wish you well in your continuing recovery

regards

jenny

Hi crlbyl17

Thank you for taking the time to give feedback about your experience when you were in the Ulster ED. Great to hear you were well looked after in the midst of the pressure the staff were experiencing. The staff work so hard and give so much despite everything.

I will share your comments with the staff and Dr Ally who will really appreciate them.

I do hope you are keeping well.

Kind Regards

Jenny

ED Lead Nurse
