I had a failed routine bowel screen test and was invited for a colonoscopy appointment to investigate.
Went to Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) in Truro for the procedure and have to write to thank all the staff in the department for my care throughout the time I was there.
The receptionist was friendly. Then Karen came to call me through to start getting ready. She was lovely and reassuring when going through all the consent form and procedure formalities prior to the procedure.
The waiting area was single sex once gowned up. When taken through to the room for the actual procedure, all the team worked well and professionally.
The Consultant Gastroenterologist, Dr Fortun, was friendly and carried out the procedure. He was caring and his excellent expertise made the procedure swift and thorough. He informed me about what he did. I could watch the TV screen of the pictures of the journey around my colon! Quite fascinating!
The nurse was supportive and caring towards me, reassuring me along the way. They made sure that I was comfortable throughout. Thank you all.
I was then taken into the recovery room and tended to by several staff to check on me, give me written information of today's treatment and follow-up, provided with a cup of tea and biscuits, given time to change back into my clothes ready for discharge from the dept, and my friend was contacted to say that the procedure was complete and I was ready to collect.
Thank you everyone in the department who assisted in my procedure today. Much appreciated.
"Thanks to all the staff"
