"An amazing team"

About: Adult Health & Support Services / Primary Care Out of Hours Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department University Hospital Wishaw / Paediatrics wards (19 & 20)

(as a parent/guardian),

My son (11) was unwell and we attended out of hours at Douglas Street. The staff there were really good with him and following an assessment had arranged for an ambulance to take him to Wishaw General. The ambulance staff Kara and Kailey were amazing at reassuring him as he traveled to hospital on oxygen. They chatted with us to help reduce the anxiety we were both experiencing, as he has never been ill before.

Everyone in A&E was helpful from the doctor dealing with his care to the auxillary who stopped me getting lost. He was seen quickly and following an x-ray was transferred to the care of the pediatric team.

Jodie (s/n) clarked him in and kept us informed about what would happen next. The team who work in Wards 19 and 20 were caring and supportive. Nothing was any trouble and after a very frightening 24 hours my son was on the mend. Louise one of the auxillaries was there for support when I was struggling with my worries and talked with me so I could return to his side, being strong for him.

The doctors explained everything to us both and checked if either of us had questions, it was reassuring to see my son's questions and understanding were just as important as mine.

Isobel the volunteer and Jasper the therapy dog both tried to take my son's worries away for a little while and I thank them and all of the nursing and medical team as well as Emily from the physiotherapy department for all their help in getting my son well again.

An amazing team ❤️
