"They are truly special people"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Acute Stroke Unit Royal Victoria Hospital / Regional Intensive Care Unit

(as a relative),

My mother suffered a stroke and was transferred to the RVH Belfast. She was initially in ICU and then transferred to the Acute Stroke Unit.

We were deeply moved and appreciative of the excellent care my mother received. Dr McShane and Dr. McArdle delivered the most awful news in an honest yet compassionate way. Darragh and Anu were the two nurses who looked after Mummy in ICU. We cannot praise them enough- they are truly special people who were so generous to everyone who was there for my mummy.

We cannot fault the team in the RVH ICU and will be forever grateful for looking after mummy and comforting my father and myself in our most difficult days.

Dear pyxiscg79

My name is Jane Carlisle and I am currently the interim lead nurse for stroke services in the Belfast Trust. Thankyou very much for taking the time to share your experience at a very distressing time for you.

Its with a heavy heart that I reply to you knowing that your mother was admitted with devastating stroke and the difficult conversations and decisions that would have taken place at the time of her admission/ hospital stay. Our Belfast trust values ensure that all patients receive the upmost dignity and respect during their time with us, so I am glad to hear in your experience that our care is reflective of this.

I will ensure to share your feedback with the stroke team, in particular Dr McShane.

Sending best wishes and love to you and your father.

Many thanks

Jane
