I was recently admitted to the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) in Royal Alexandra Hospital and the entire team were incredible, despite me not being the easiest of patients (sorry again).
Some exceptional staff deserve the recognition for the care I received, Claire the nurse on nightshift kept me as calm as she could, doing everything in her power to try to get my pain under control and was just excellent with me when I was uptight and agitated. She was so caring and really made me feel at ease!
Aoife the doctor who explained all the possible treatment plans and reassured me when I needed it, she listened to my concerns and overcame them one by one explaining the ins and outs on what was happening which reassured me the most.
Mary the nurse who took over from Claire on the day shift was just exceptional, so caring and compassionate and made sure I was as comfortable as possible given the situation and her soft and gentle nature in general made me feel so safe.
I really want to thank Cait (Catherine) the doctor who deserves 1000 words on her own! The two days that I was under her care she ensured I was really listened to, she gave me the tough love I needed to ensure I was properly treated and I really felt like she was in my corner, advocating and fighting for me to get answers. She done absolutely everything she could to treat me and when other areas such as surgical and gyne input was needed she really advocated for me. I felt like Cait genuinely cared and understood what I was going through and the way she spoke to me with genuine care and compassion was just incredible. I’m extremely grateful for everything she done for me over the short time I was in her care and I’ve taken everything she’s said on board to ensure that I’m healthy and hopefully pain free long term.
The entire MDT in MAU were excellent and every single person I came across deserve the recognition.
"Every single person I came across deserve the recognition."
