I was involved in a violent attack, in the process I lost my right index finger completely to the knuckle and my right middle finger is now fully bent for the rest of my life. My left 2 fingers on my left hand are also very weak and I have very delayed reactions to when I move them. This has sent me into deep depression. Every day feels like a battle, I don’t know if I’m going to wake up wanting to take my own life or fearing that if I go out I will be involved in something like this again and not be so lucky.
I got in contact with the primary mental health care team, where I’ve been appointed to a guy called Jason who's been lovely and has really gone above and beyond for me. I was having a really hard time when I first spoke to Jason, straight away he showed me that I can trust him and that he’s going to sort it all out. At first I thought it was a fob story but he did just what he said he was going to do - he sorted my medication out, he’s directed me to services he thinks would benefit me, he’s had time to sit me down and understand what I’m going through and how to manage my anxiety and my stress.
He’s been very supportive and I’m forever grateful. I think he’s a great asset to the team and he’s one of the few who are actually making a difference in the community and actually trying to resolve people's problems instead of doing what everybody else does and sweep it under the carpet.
"Forever grateful for your support"
