I was referred to A&E by 111 on 27th November. (I had earlier attended the GP surgery to try and get an emergency appointment)
I would like to thank all the medical staff (on both shifts) in A&E and the Pit Stop ward. The service was under extreme pressure but everybody gave a high level or care and support at all time. It says a lot for their professionalism and dedication that this was maintained, even by those that has been on duty for over 12 hours. I was kept informed at all times and felt that I was in good hands. I was also reassured that all required tests and assessments were made.
When I was discharged the doctor gave me an excellent explanation of the diagnosis and the follow up treatment that was being arranged.
It is hard to appreciate the pressure on A&E without experiencing it. The waiting time was 4 hours when I arrived (although I was fast tracked) and it increased to over 8 hours before I left early the following morning. There was nothing the staff could do to alleviate the situation given the numbers seeking treatment.
Can you please pass on my heartfelt thanks for the excellent service I received under very challenging conditions. (It is unfortunate that I can not highlight the special care given by individuals.)
My wife was with me and she also wishes to thank all the staff for the kindness shown to her.
"Excellent Care at A&E"
