"The AAA Screening Programme - over inside 10 mins"

About: Regional AAA Screening Programme

(as the patient),

My appointment was at Ards Hospital and apart from the directions in my letter being misleading it went very smoothly. I was early for my appointment and after a short wait I was seen by two staff members. One checked me in and the other carried out the scan. I’d to lie on a treatment table and lift my shirt. A gel was applied and the scanner was pressed on my abdomen. I was aware of some pressure but it was not uncomfortable. It was over inside 10 minutes. I would recommend all men 65 and over to attend. If all is good you will not be recalled.

Good Afternoon,

My name is Claire Black and I am the NI AAA Screening Programme Manager.

Thank you for taking the time to give feedback on our service. I apologise for the misleading directions on your appointment letter, unfortunately there has been some changes to the Ards Hospital Venue over the last couple of weeks that we were not aware of and had therefore not had the opportunity to update the directions/guidance on our letters. This has now been updated.

Asides from the misleading directions I am pleased to hear that your experience with the programme was positive and I have fed this back to the screening team.

Kind Regards,

Claire
