"Still in pain a year after fractures of my foot"

About: Sussex Orthopaedic NHS Treatment Centre / Orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I sustained 4 fractures to my navicular bone when my horse slipped on her side crushing my foot. That was November 2012 we are now in October 2013 and I still walk with a limp and am in a constant amount of pain.

I constantly take pain killers and despite various apps with consultants and steroid injections I'm still unsound. If I was a horse I'd have been up and running months ago. I'm even now considering going privately despite the fact I have no health cover.

I ride professionally and coach so am on my feet all day. I have been told by one consultant I should consider a lifestyle change which anyone who works with horses knows isn't possible.

The surgery I need to fix my foot I am told is a foot fusion but despite discussing this with my consultant numerous times I keep having less invasive cheaper treatment. I feel like I'm swimming against the tide.
