My waters broke at 4 am but I was only experiencing mild pain. I phoned the maternity unit and was advised to come and be assessed at the maternity midwife led unit.
I was checked by Kirsty, who was happy with all my checks but wanted me to get a scan by the doctor to double check how my baby was sitting as she wasn’t sure if she felt a head or bum during the examination.
A Doctor named Michael came down to do the scan and confirmed my baby was breech. He then advised the best thing now is to go for a c section as my waters had already broken and having a natural birth could cause complications. He talked me through everything, he was really calm and reassuring!
I was then introduced to the anaesthetist (can’t remember name) who also talked me through what was going to happen next and again he was very professional and reassuring. Kirsty then walked me and my partner through to surgery where we met Michael again and a full team. Eddie was great, he was very friendly and made me laugh. The whole team that was there were great but I have forgotten names!
Michael carried out the surgery and kept me updated and then my beautiful baby girl was here! Kirsty checked her over and then passed her to me and I was in love. I would do the whole experience again.
I then went to recovery and the team there were great, especially Zoe. I was then taken up to the ward again where all the midwives and nursery nurses were fabulous! Some names I can remember are Audrey, Katrina, Lauren, Tasha and Rachel but I would like to thank everyone who was involved and sorry for those who I have forgotten the names of!
My daughter, my partner and I spent 3 days in the maternity unit and have had a very positive experience and would do it all again! Big Thank You to you all! X
"A very positive experience"
