My son was recently admitted to Craig Ward in Ulster Hospital for three days due to low oxygen levels. We got excellent care when we arrived in A&E and this continued throughout our stay.
All the staff were fantastic. My son communicates using Makaton signs and staff picked up on this and would copy my communication with him. One staff member in particular, Laura, really spent time with him communicating at his level.
This may seem like a very small gesture on the staff's part but for a parent seeing people understand his needs and respond to his communication and use Makaton back to him is huge and means so so much. Thank you everyone.
