"Outpatient wait times"

About: New Victoria Hospital / Gynaecology Clinic Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Endometriosis Service

(as a service user),

I have now been waiting 35 weeks to see a consultant for my endometriosis and that is for an urgent referral, which I know as I checked with my GP. It is already diagnosed I just want excision surgery to treat it again as it’s now worse than before the initial ablation.

When it did get diagnosed through the infertility service in NHS Lanarkshire I was referred in the January, saw the consultant in the May and had surgery in the July. I feel like I don't matter to them anymore because I’m not trying to get pregnant, I’m just a woman in agony.

I have called the referral management team once and was told that an urgent Gyn referral will probably take a year! I’ve had disciplinary action at work for my absence because it’s so bad but there’s nothing I can do to get seen. Currently crying from the pain as I write this.

Update posted by KC1986 (a service user)

As a result of raising an official complaint, I have since received a phone call from someone in Gyn and spoken to my GP. The former said an urgent referral will be around 59 weeks and the latter said the waiting list is so long because gyn surgeries have all been stopped in favour of other procedures.

That speaks for itself I think.

I guess I have no option but to tough it out until February and then not get any surgery anyway. Appalling how little women’s health care matters.
