My Dad is currently in Liberton Hospital. I hope to write more formally after he’s been discharged, but I wanted to record some of our experiences at this stage.
He’s been there just over a month, and his care from each and every member of the multidisciplinary team has been outstanding.
Special mentions to a few people. Dr Olayinka and Dr Roanna, supported by their more junior colleagues Fiona and Mia, have been amazing. The thorough analysis of his medical problems, both physical and mental has been very impressive, and they have kept us informed throughout his stay.
The therapists have been unerringly cheerful and he loves his sessions with Fiona, Lesley and colleagues for Physio. Seonaid gave us a very helpful OT summary of his progress today too and their assessment has been detailed and highly professional.
The nursing team, led by Fiona, have provided a very high level of care for him. There are too many stars to name everyone in person, but Asya, Jesca, TK and Fiona no2 have all shown him great kindness. Meghan was one of the first nurses we met, and clearly cares deeply about her patients. Emma's smiles light up the ward every time she’s on duty and Shauna, Jill and Sai show extraordinary patience with Dad’s endless stories. On the night shift, Jins gets a special mention too as someone Dad feels he can relate to. Forgive me for anyone I’ve missed. They’ve all been phenomenal.
The meals have been hearty and much appreciated, and the domestic staff, including Sarah who brings round the tea and coffee, are some of Dad’s favourite people! Everyone has a happy demeanour and a friendly word for him.
We’re entering a new chapter now, but will be forever grateful to the team for rescuing our family at a time when we hit a crisis.
Thank you to everyone!
