My daughter has been admitted to children’s ward eight times this year alone. Four of them being HDU stays. I cannot fault the nursing staff in the children’s ward and assessment unit, but the consultants and paediatricians I can not say the same about. They don't seem to read notes regarding the child they are treating, I didn’t feel listened to by them and I felt my concerns regarding my child were brushed under the carpet.
My daughter has her own paediatrician at the hospital, she has not seen him once in clinic, only once when he was on the ward round. I’ve asked to be referred to a children’s hospital as her condition is in regards to her breathing, she’s 4 and can’t say whether it’s asthma or not.
Surely now we’ve just left after the eighth time in as many months they should be finding the cause of it instead of prescribing more and more meds for a condition they are not even sure it is. It’s a joke!
