"Looked after with genuine care and compassion"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Emergency Medicine

(as the patient),

A week post c-section, I was booked into the Minor injuries unit after my old ACL injury gave way and my ankle snapped.

When I arrived, Isla was assigned to me. Not only was her kind and caring nature reassuring, she was also very accommodating and understanding. She looked after me with genuine care and compassion, ensuring that not only was I ok, that my one-week-old baby was too after my husband had to wheel me into the clinic and leave us for over half an hour to find somewhere to park - this needs sorted out, A&E.

Isla was knowledgeable and her expertise meant that even though my worse fears were confirmed, an ankle break, she sent me for a further x-ray to determine the correct care method going forward. She also took the time to show us the scan and explain the best treatment plan. In addition, she checked over my wound to ensure I hadn’t ruptured anything when I fell.

My husband and I would like to say a sincere thanks to Isla for being incredible when we attended MIU.

Dear Mamabear12

Thank you for such positive feedback about the minor injury service and in particular Isla, the nurse looking after you. I will ensure your story is shared with her.

I am sorry to hear that parking was an issue for your husband. There can be pressure on parking spaces at peak times but there is usually parking spaces at the Lady Helen Parking Centre with parking attendants on duty to be able to direct you.

May I take this opportunity to wish you well in your recovery.
