We were sent to A&E by my dad's consultant as he needed to be admitted to ward and unfortunately this is the only way you can access it now.
We arrived at 2pm, and from when we went in the member of staff on reception was just lovely, apologising for the drunk patient.
We were seen quite quickly and eventually taken through to a smaller waiting area. The doctor who I am sorry I can't remember his name was so sorry that our consultation was in corridor, we didn't mind, place was bunged with people and he was so nice. Led us round to a quieter area.
The nurse who dealt with us all night again her name has left me. Was just amazing lady she was running around all night nothing was a trouble and she kept our wee group laughing where we where all sitting. It makes a difference to patients when you have nurses and auxiliaries that can smile etc. They made daddy tea and toast and even offered myself but I refused as they have enough to be at.
The only downside is what I witnessed what these guys have to put up with, we had a few patients come into the quiet area who were intoxicated, under the influence of what I assume was drugs etc. These nurse auxiliaries did everything to remove these patients as quietly as they could and came back to apologise to us all over and over. But it wasn't their fault at all, we were more worried about the staff's safety than anything else.
I don't think these staff get paid enough to put up with this stuff, it is sad to see them being so disrespected. But I can say on a whole our experience was positive in A&E until we were moved to ward 26. We wanted to thank staff etc in A&E for being amazing.
