"Inclusion helped and encouraged me to better myself"

About: Inclusion Isle of Wight

(as a service user),

Prior to contacting the service, I had been struggling with my mental health due to past issues which had caused my drinking to get out of control, I was drinking daily and started drinking earlier and earlier each day. I was nervous about contacting Inclusion and asking for support but I knew I had to do it for myself and my family as my drinking and mental health was only getting worse daily. At first I attended recovery café group which helped me reflect on my alcohol consumption and it was clear my drinking was a big issue.

I received an assessment and was advised I would get a recovery worker who would help me reduce my alcohol and discuss what my goal would be. Before meeting my recovery worker I received testing for BBV - Was tested by Kieran, Kieran was supportive and explained everything that he was doing and why, which put me at ease. Unfortunately Kieran identified that I was positive for Hep-C, Kieran was supportive and arrange my medication and is supporting me until I have further testing - Kieran is professional, helps me keep calm and always explains the processes. I started receiving 1:1 recovery sessions with me newly allocated recovery worker Jim, Jim discusses an alcohol reduction schedule for me  to work towards, Jim offered weekly recovery sessions, helped me change my daily routine by setting SMART goals. Jim arranged for me to receive mental health support and he would always listen, encourage me set new goals. Jim cheered me up and helped me get my life back on track. I have achieved my goals ref: alcohol and have now just opened my own business.

Thank you Jim, Kieran and Inclusion

Thanks for getting in touch braceyr74 with this appreciated and extensive feedback,

It really is appreciated and it really nice to hear your experience is that of a positive one and its great to hear that you quickly received the support and treatment you needed whilst with us. We have a brief structured treatment pathway which certain people who come to get support from us will benefit from and also we have a recovery worker who works closely with the hep cu later team and it sounds like you have benefited from both of those pathways. We have recently achieved micro elimination on the Island and across Hampshire also and if you would like more information around what that is please have a look on our social media platforms, we are on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. If you don’t have access to internet feel free to pop in and discuss with any of the team, it’s great to hear you got some mental health support also as a wraparound support from professionals is really important when using your community based services, thanks again for the feedback and good luck with your new business venture.

From all of us @ Inclusion.
