"Treatment of my elderly grandparent"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

Drove 3.5hrs to Medway to be with my nan who had been sent to Medway following a fall in Minster Hospital. Arrived to find her unattended and half out of bed, she cannot stand. When I asked the nurse if she had been for a CT scan yet I was told yes but they couldn't do it as nan needed to be strapped to a board. Upon strapping her to a board and finally taking her for a scan she was then left in pain, strapped to the board for a good hour just in case while awaiting the results. She is in her 80s and had been fine off it beforehand.

I repeatedly raised my concerns that my nan was not right, she was very confused, seeing things and thinking there was a wedding happening. Asked multiple times for it to be looked at in case she had a UTI but she was never tested and my concerns shrugged off. Finally discharged back to Minster Hospital the following day after a full night being ignored in A&E.

Not to mention the deceased patient left in an open cubicle half the night.

6 weeks later and Nan is back in Medway with poor communication from the staff, no real idea what is wrong, and no idea what they are treating for. We also found out from records sent to the GP that she also contracted Hospital Acquired Pneumonia last month.

We experienced utterly dire service, and I feel Medway has ruined my grandparents end of life. 4 months seperated and I doubt my nan will ever walk again. Thanks a lot.
