We would like to thank all of the staff involved in my father's care - from the person in A&E who thought to get an orthopedic consult, to the amazing staff on 5b.

Throughout a difficult few weeks, Dad was treated with respect and care and as a person (not fobbed off because he was in his 90s with an Alzheimer's diagnosis, as we'd previously experienced).

He particularly appreciated the dedication of the nursing staff and a mention to one he called Dave the Shave who made a real difference to him (great way with my Dad and a good shave!) and seeing Barney the dog.

We noticed and were grateful for the little things the staff did, such as allowing and giving him a few sips of tea (with discussion with us) when he was otherwise nil by mouth towards the end, and the focus on quality of life - he was a life long tea pot and was asking for this. I was also impressed with the quality of his oral care (actually quite rare ).

Also much appreciated was the clarity and honesty of communication from the medical staff which eased decision making and the sensitivity in which we were finally told he had passed by nurses  (not telling my mum but waiting to talk to me to tell her).

Thank you all - keep doing what you are doing - you are brilliant
