"Person-centred care by nurse"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

I attended Minor Injuries with my teenage son recently. We were assessed in minor injuries by a lovely nurse called Helen. Her care and treatment was a fabulous example of person-centred care. She introduced herself to my son and explained all steps of the assessment. She arranged an X-ray and reported it back to my son. He had a soft tissue injury to his foot but I was worried due to his age, swelling and pain that he may have a fracture. I was reassured by the clinical assessment, decision to X-ray and aftercare. We were 2 hours in minor injuries and when we came through to the ward area the system was very efficient. Please pass on to Helen that she is doing an excellent job.

Dear LMC17

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on the care of your son whilst at the minor injuries unit. I am pleased to read that your son was treated with person centred care. Helen will be delighted with your feedback and I will ensure your comments are shared with her.

Helen is indeed doing an excellent job and it is important to read that you also felt reassured by her assessment and decision making. I hope that your son is making good progress and recovering well.

Kind regards

Lise
