I just want to extend my heartfelt appreciation for all the care I received during my diagnosis and subsequent operation as a result of DCIS. This diagnosis was completely unexpected but the staff at the Breast Screening Service in Irvine went above and beyond at the various appointments I needed to have (thank you to the nurses who carried out my biopsy..I didn't feel it!). Advice and support were always just a phone call away from the specialist breast care nurses at Crosshouse.
I am sorry that I cannot remember all their names. From my first recall, mammograms, radiographers, nurses and doctors at Ayrshire Central and Crosshouse have been helpful and caring.
My operation took place at Crosshouse Hospital, where my great care continued. Mr. Houston, Miss Reid, Ms. Sharma, and all the theatre staff put me at ease, and I did not feel unprepared or worried pre- and post-operation. All eventualities were covered.
I also want to extend a heartfelt thanks to all the nurses who were on shift during my night stay. Their care and patience with the patients were outstanding; nothing was too much trouble. As I have had an excellent experience under the breast cancer team that Ayrshire and Arran provided, I honestly cannot think of any improvements you could implement.
It may have been unfortunate to contract DCIS, but I honestly feel blessed to have received the care that the Ayrshire and Arran Breast Cancer team provides.
"Their care and patience with the patients were outstanding"
