I am writing this story to give feedback of my experience in Ninewells Major Trauma Ward.
I was admitted to the ward after a fall down stairs on to concrete. I sustained multiple rib fractures, a fractured humerus, a sternal fracture and facial bruising.
When I was first admitted, I was scared and I struggled with pain. I received input from the pain team to help manage my discomfort. It was decided that I did not need an operation at present and my injuries could be managed with painkillers until a later date in my local trust.
I felt that during my time on the ward, my worries and concerns were listened to and acted upon to the best of the staff's ability, and if they could not meet my needs they would find someone who could help.
Although I am not at the end of my journey and await transfer back to England to be closer to home for ongoing care, I will miss the team in Ninewells. I am grateful for all of the care, encouragement and support I have received and for the joyful happy faces the team have every day.
My only negative was the meals offered but that is out with the wards control.
"I am grateful for all of the care, encouragement and support I have received"
