I was referred to the Chronic pain team by my consultant due to ongoing chronic pain.

I was reviewed by the Consultant Anaesthetist and a person-centred care plan was created. I then had a 5-week course in pain management to inform me how and why we can have an exacerbation in pain levels.

The knowledge of each of the team was amazing and they explained clearly how, why and when our pain can be heightened,. They gave us the information on how we can reduce our pain from psychological, physical and emotional stressors and how this can be implemented daily.

The course allowed me time out of my busy day and allowed me the head space to think of the stressors that heighten my pain. I had a light bulb moment during this 5-week course and it has enabled me to make life changing decisions to reduce my pain.

I am forever grateful for their expert knowledge and the professionalism they showed working in a person-centred and holistic manner. They are an amazing team who require recognition in the work they do to reduce their service users' pain. I will be forever grateful, I just wish  I had been referred earlier. Thank you. x
