"Heart Failure Nurse was excellent"

About: Rainworth Health Centre Specialist Therapy Services / Mid Notts Cardio-Respiratory Services

(as a service user),

I was admitted to Kings Mill hospital in April 2023 and transferred from A+E to the Cardiology Ward. I was diagnosed with Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy and was discharged later in April 2023.

I was told that a heart Failure Nurse would contact me as a follow up to my hospital treatment. I was contacted by Joanna and given a face to face appointment in May 2023. in the interim I was able to telephone the Heart Failure Team if I had any concerns. I did find the initial weeks difficult and was pleased to meet Joanna and discuss how I was feeling and what to expect having to live with my condition.

Joanna met me on time for my first appointment. She was very welcoming and put me at ease. I had made a list of questions and Joanna gave me answers and listened to my concerns. She explained the details of my condition and discussed my medications, informing me of how they would assist my recovery.

Joanna allowed me as much time as I needed and provided me all information to enable me condition to improve.

I had further face to face appointments with Joanna in June and July. Joanna was pleased with my progress and discussed possible changes to my medication levels. She arranged for me to see Cardiac Rehab at Kings Mill hospital. She also organised two blood tests to check on my kidneys.

Throughout the past few months Joanna and the team have always been available to me on the phone. Joanna has always been attentive and given me the confidence to continue with my recovery. At my July appointment Joanna felt that my progress was such that I did not need to book another appointment. however Joanna still kept in touch by telephone and is always available.
